Drawing Series
Graphite, Inkjet
To represent self-perception, we have the drawings, which all illustrate a window into the mind.
The color printed portion are the contents of the mind. It is composed of photographs of tree branches which allude to the nerve connections of the brain. These photographs are then crumpled up and scanned back in to allude to the topography of the brain.
The graphite drawing around the printed portion is the container or frame of the mind. For example, some are skull cross-sections, and another is a literal window frame. My drawing reacts to the printer errors causing a crack or shift in the frame. This represents the machine either causing a creative breakthrough or error of the mind.

Processed Windows
Inkjet, Styrene, Birch Wood
To represent external perception, we have these two panels I call Processed Windows.  They contain the drawings behind it, but there is something happening in between.
In fact, besides the drawings, they are rather far removed from their environment. What created this discrepancy is an abuse of process. I basically put them through hell with a feedback loop of printing photos of photos, projecting text on that, printing it, and photographing through altered plexi glass. This all creates an illusion of depth beyond the 3 quarter inch panel.
Essentially, these windows are an experiment of altered-perception. All of these layers of process become the subject matter. My pieces called Window into Process deconstruct these layers to give a glimpse into how it was all done.
Processed Window A
Processed Window B

Window into Process A
Mylar, Plexi Glass
Window into Process A displays the different layers that were added to the process in the making of the Processed Windows. On the left are sheets of mylar that were bent and folded to alter the text for an analogue projector. This text was projected onto prints of photos pasted on the wall. On the right are sheets of plexi glass that I applied acrylic gel medium and nail polish to imitate a window with condensation. These were placed on top of a photograph of the projection and photographed one last time for the final piece.

Window into Process B
Window into Process B flips through the photographs I took while projecting text onto my prints for the Processed Windows. I was constantly adjusting the positioning of the paper and the mylar / text in order to finally reach my end product. Later I placed the altered plexi glass onto a photograph of that projection.
